Millenium Development Goals (MDGs)
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight goals to be achieved by 2015 that respond to the world's main development challenges. The MDGs are drawn from the actions and targets contained in the Millennium Declaration that was adopted by 189 nations-and signed by 147 heads of state and governments during the UN Millennium Summit in September 2000, goal 4 and 5 relate to maternal & child health. MAP is trying to contribute to these two MDGs.

Documentation of the history of midwifery education in Pakistan starting with the first school of midwifery in the Indo-Pak subcontinent in 1882
Availability of soft loan to members to start birthing stations.
Appearance of the midwife on the national scene of maternal and neonatal health.
Initiation of change in the thinking of nurses and obstetricians regarding the acceptance of midwives as practitioners of normal obstetrics and of midwifery as a profession separate from nursing.
Representation of MAP at the international level.
One of the three founders of the South Asian Midwives Alliance.
Advocacy for improvement of standards of midwifery education.
